Clark Opportunity Transfer Scholars Program | A. James Clark School of Engineering, University of Maryland

                    The Clark Opportunity Transfer Scholars Program offers a scholarship for four semesters of study—and includes comprehensive academic, career, and research support provided to all Clark School students.

                    How to Apply

                    For external transfer applicants (Maryland community college students):

                    • File the Free Application for Federal Student Aid?(FAFSA) by January 1.
                    • Apply to the University of Maryland by March 1, 2019 for the Fall 2019 semester.
                    • Submit your scholarship application no later than March 8, 2019.

                    For internal transfer applicants (University of Maryland students):

                    Eligibility

                    To be eligible, you must:?

                    • Be a student from a Maryland community college, admitted to the Clark School of Engineering at the University of Maryland for the Fall 2019 semester, or a student at the University of Maryland who attended a Maryland community college and will be transferring to the Clark School of Engineering as an internal transfer student in Fall 2019
                    • Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
                    • Demonstrate financial need as indicated by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid and as determined by the Office of Student Financial Aid

                    *Preference will be given to students who will be eligible to take junior-level engineering coursework by Fall 2019.

                    Award Requirements

                    Clark Opportunity Scholars are expected to participate in all activities described below.

                    Summer 2019

                    External Transfer Students

                    • Major-specific academic coursework* or seminars.** On-campus housing or transportation subsidies for scholars residing off-campus will be provided.
                    • Weekly Summer Bridge Program evening workshops during Session 2 (July 8 - August 16).?This program is designed to provide an overview of resources available to all engineering students. Bridge will be in addition to the required summer academic courses/seminars.

                    Internal Transfer Students

                    • Weekly Summer Bridge Program evening workshops during Session 2 (July 8 - August 16). This program is designed to provide an overview of resources available to all engineering students.

                    *You will be required to pay for academic coursework, and will be reimbursed provided that you earn a C- or higher.

                    ?**Most courses and seminars will be directly related to your engineering major and will provide you with specific content knowledge that you need to be successful in your junior-level courses. In some cases, these courses may reduce your time to graduation. Please note that some courses will be offered during the day, for example, from?12:00 pm–3:00 pm.

                    Fall 2019/Spring 2020

                    • Monthly cohort meetings each semester
                    • At least one advising appointment with program faculty and staff each semester?

                    Summer 2020

                    • Paid internship or on-campus research experience

                    Fall 2020/Spring 2021

                    • Monthly cohort meetings each semester
                    • At least one advising appointment with program faculty and staff each semester
